Coffee is Uganda’s largest export commodity and is worth $550+ million annually. Since 85% of all coffee grown is cultivated by smallholders with fewer than 2.5 hectares, Uganda has an immense potential to produce high quality, small lot specialty coffees. Most coffee grown in Uganda (80%) is of the varietal Robusta (Coffea canephora var. robusta), with the other 20% comprising Arabica varietals.

The coffee trees are intercropped with traditional food crops and grown in the shade of banana trees and other shade trees. In these self-sustaining conditions, coffee is left to grow naturally, flowering on average twice a year.

Robusta coffee originates from Uganda 

High altitude grown (900-1200) that enhances acidity, a mild soft sweetness, and giving it a neutral Robusta taste.

Generally cultivated with no application of chemical fertilizers, fungicides or pesticides so it is organic by default.

It has excellent crema properties suitable and ideal for espresso.
